Designing An Interface for Telemedicine app ‘Spotdoc’

Image
Telemedicine app ‘Spotdoc’ By Dr. Anirban Chowdhury We have designed an Interface of a Telemedicine Application to Anticipate the COVID-19 Scenario. Me and my student Ms. Lalmani Kumari have initiated a work on telemedicine in early 2018. Later we (me and my student Ambika) have revived the project and revised the design during initial phase of COVID-19 pandemic. People might have panic to visit hospitals/clinics for any other medical issue due to fear to have a COVID-19 infection. Telemedicine might be an alternative option in such a scenario. Telemedicine enables the treatment of diseases from remote locations. Doctors can go for health checkups and provide remedies to the patient for diseases. Though there are few applications available in the market for the same but there are many drawbacks such as Heart Rate (HR) monitoring, Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring, prescribing medicine based on availability of medicine in local pharmacy, online medicine order option etc. Therefore, t...

The political cartoonist took that platform as an opportunity to share their thoughts and raise socio-political issues through their cartoons. The aim of the paper is to study responses (likingness and affective) to political cartoons in respect to responsiveness towards cartoons, gender, and socio-economic status. The study was conducted among 875 Indians from different parts of India including males and females with various socio-economic backgrounds. The data was captured in the form of sentiments (love, sadness, anger, and happiness emotions) for each cartoon is shared in the Facebook timeline. Then, relevant descriptive statistics were computed using IBM SPSS 20.0 software. Results showed that maximum Facebook users expressed their thoughts about political cartoons through emoticons in terms of like, sad, angry, and happin...

History of Design in India

Image
☝  History of Design in India  ☝ Although the history of art is quite old in India, nobody properly holds faith in the history of design in India. There are different schools of thought for Indian design history. Before I am going to explain the different schools of thought for Indian design history, it's better to understand what's design. In this context, I came across a few interesting definitions of design. These are -  " Design is the Design for the Design by a Design "   The meanings of these four designs are different. The meaning of the first design is a scientific discipline. The second design refers to the plan. The third stands for product or service/software or intangible products. The fourth design means problem-solving processes.  The design discipline can be defined as a highly interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary field of study which amalgamates the arts, science, engineering, and technology. A good designer is a good thinker and a problem sol...

AI and Affective Interface Design

Image
What is AI? Artificial intelligence is a tool for creating non-human objects or software as intelligent as humans. AI and Affective Interfaces The humanlike intelligence in non-human objects or computing system is known as artificial intelligence (AI). With the help of AI, it is now also possible to capture the affective signals and communicate with computers. This opens up various scopes for affective computing and new modalities of human-computer interactions. On the other hand, AI and affective computing-based devices or products can be used to generate affective responses among users. This lecture covers the current status of development and scopes for AI-based affective interface design. Current development for capturing affective responses includes f-EMG, GSR, face recognition, voice recognition, semantic and sentiment analysis interfaces, etc. Sensors, lightings, and other displays and controls are now been utilised to evoke emotional responses among users using various au...
