Application of EEG in the Areas of Neuroaesthetics and Neuroeconomics

Image
Neuroaesthetics, a recently coined term, is  the scientific study of the neural consequences of contemplating a creative work of art , such as the involvement of the prefrontal cortex (in thinking) and limbic systems (for emotions). Neuroaesthetics utilizes a framework called the aesthetic triad (Chatterjee & Vartanian, 2014). The aesthetic triad is made up of three neural systems that create our experiences with beauty, and includes the  (1) sensory-motor system, (2) emotion-valuation system, and (3) meaning-knowledge system . Neuroesthetics  ( or   neuroaesthetics ) is a relatively recent sub-discipline of  applied aesthetics . Empirical aesthetics takes a  scientific  approach to the study of  aesthetic experience  of  art ,  music , or any object that can give rise to aesthetic judgments. [2]  Neuroesthetics is a term coined by Semir Zeki in 1999 [3]  and received its formal definition in 2002 as the scientific stu...

Gamified Design Classroom

Image
Gamified Design Classroom Gamified Teaching and Mentoring Gamified teaching and learning is a requirement of GenZ design learners. A design educator has to understand the mindset of GenZ; and, then needs to plan assignments and projects for the design classrooms. As a design educator, please try to understand the difference between teaching and mentoring. Traditional instructors generally try to deploy the learning contents among all students and try to evaluate their learnings without considering many important factors such as students' background, students' mindset, learning environment, motivational factors, etc. A true mentor starts understanding the student's lifestyle, aids the individual requirements of students, and takes care of different abilities and learning attitudes. Mentors always motivate students in various ways. Gamification in learning is the contemporary practice of design mentors in design classrooms, however, educational games are very common in play...

Designing An Interface for Telemedicine app ‘Spotdoc’

Image
Telemedicine app ‘Spotdoc’ By Dr. Anirban Chowdhury We have designed an Interface of a Telemedicine Application to Anticipate the COVID-19 Scenario. Me and my student Ms. Lalmani Kumari have initiated a work on telemedicine in early 2018. Later we (me and my student Ambika) have revived the project and revised the design during initial phase of COVID-19 pandemic. People might have panic to visit hospitals/clinics for any other medical issue due to fear to have a COVID-19 infection. Telemedicine might be an alternative option in such a scenario. Telemedicine enables the treatment of diseases from remote locations. Doctors can go for health checkups and provide remedies to the patient for diseases. Though there are few applications available in the market for the same but there are many drawbacks such as Heart Rate (HR) monitoring, Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring, prescribing medicine based on availability of medicine in local pharmacy, online medicine order option etc. Therefore, t...
